LT1 CORVETTE
Chevrolet's first attempt at a redesign of the small block
came in 1992 with the introduction of the LT1.
Cast iron block with aluminum
heads, the biggest change is in the water passages. Called reverse cooling, it
routed the water to the heads first. Then into the block. This aided in
preventing detonation
by keeping the heads cooler. Also, the water pump is
driven by a gear. Which is turned by the camshaft sprocket.
